Princess Karla Sailing Catamaran

Twin Yanmar diesels move Princess Karla along at a cruising speed of 9 knots on 12 litres of fuel an hour per engine, and for the hours when the wind does the work she carries a square-top mainsail, a roll genoa and a staysail. She is a 64ft (20m) sailing catamaran built by Lagoon in 2025, with a GRP hull, teak decks and an interior by Nauta Design.

Comfort under way

Her top speed under power is 14 knots, and because she sails on twin hulls she keeps her decks level under canvas instead of heeling, which makes a passage easier on guests who have not sailed before. A watermaker makes fresh water aboard, so her tanks do not depend on the next marina.

On deck

Wide steps lead up to the aft cockpit, where the table converts and cushions cover the seating, and the flybridge carries a sunbathing area with speakers of its own, matched by speakers in the cockpit and the saloon. Sun loungers and a shaded dining area put both sun and shade on offer outside, while the open-plan saloon has panoramic windows and a television. Her swim platform carries the tender lift and a ladder, so the water is a step down from the deck rather than a climb. She also carries a Rogue Echo Bike, a TRX suspension system and a set of Pilates accessories, so a training routine need not stop for the week.

Water toys

A Highfield 460 tender with a Honda 60 HP outboard takes guests ashore and tows the kneeboard, and for the water itself there is a Jobe Infinity Sea Scooter, stand-up paddleboards, snorkelling equipment and fishing gear, so a bay can be paddled, fished and explored beneath the surface.

Where she cruises

Princess Karla has her home port at Split and cruises Croatia, with her season at its height in July and August.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins sleep eight guests, three with queen beds and the fourth a twin that converts to a double, and each of the four has its own bathroom with a separate shower and an electric toilet. The owner's suite has its own entrance from the aft cockpit and a bathroom behind sliding doors. By day she carries the same eight, and a crew of three – captain, chef and stewardess – sleeps in a twin cabin of its own.

Charter notes

Princess Karla suits a family or a group of friends of up to eight for a week's charter under sail, and she is offered by the week only, so the hire is a full week aboard. Her chef prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, with menus that run from grilled sea bass with saffron risotto to plant-based dishes, so meals for eight are cooked aboard rather than ashore.
