Silver Star II Motor Sailer

A full refit in 2017 renewed Silver Star II, and the work has continued since: a new teak deck, a repainted hull, the aft mast and its steel base replaced, and a complete overhaul of the engines, generators, air conditioning, hydraulics and electrics. She is an 89ft (27m) motor sailer from Fethiye Shipyard, launched in 2006.

On deck

Two exterior dining areas with comfortable sofas give a choice of where to eat outside, mattresses cover the sundeck, and an awning aft and a bimini shade the deck; a deck shower takes the salt off after a swim.

Water toys

A 19ft Predator tender runs the group ashore, and in the water there is a stand-up paddleboard, a single-seat canoe, a towable donut, a Seawing, a floating mat and snorkelling gear, with water skiing where local rules allow.

Where she cruises

Amalfi in Italy is home port for Silver Star II, and she cruises the waters of Italy and Malta, giving two coastlines and their bays to explore.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins take ten guests overnight. The full-beam master aft has an ensuite with a wide shower, and there is a VIP double, a second double and a twin with separate berths and two pullman berths, each with its own bathroom and shower. A crew of four looks after the party, and her peak months are July and August.

Comfort under way

She has a traditional hull shape in wood, and her sail plan and deck layout were drawn for cruising performance; under power she makes 11 knots, 12 at the top, on 80 litres an hour, which keeps passages unhurried.

Charter notes

She is an easy yacht to charter for a family or two couples: ten sleep aboard, and a hire can stretch to twelve on board by day, so the group on the water can be larger than the group staying the night.
