La Desirade Luxury Catamaran

A wingfoil travels with La Desirade, and her engines run on 20 litres of fuel an hour. She is a 77ft (24m) luxury catamaran that Lagoon, the French multihull builder, completed in 2025 with a build intended for long passages and for living aboard.

Comfort under way

Two hulls set across an 11m beam keep her from heeling, so the deck stays level under sail. She cruises at 9 knots and makes 11 knots at most, and with a genoa on a roller furler she also sails, engines silent. A watermaker keeps fresh water in her tanks between ports.

On deck

Her sundeck is broad and she has several other outdoor spaces with a view of the sea, which means nine guests have room to spread out. Inside, the main saloon is bright and is the room the party shares, and a hydraulic swim platform lowers to the water for a swim straight off the boat, with a deck shower to rinse the salt away.

Water toys

Seven toys ride with her besides the tender, the wingfoil among them. A Sublue sea scooter tows a swimmer through the water, an e-foil and a paddleboard each give another way of moving across it, water skis and a wakeboard are there for towing, a Tiwal dinghy can be sailed, and there is gear for snorkelling and for fishing.

Where she cruises

La Desirade's home port is Corsica, in France, and she cruises the coasts of France and Italy. On the Corsican side there is Bonifacio, where cliffs rise straight from the water with the old town on top and the marina below, the round bay of Rondinara with sand under the anchor, the long bay of Santa Giulia with restaurants on its beach, and the Lavezzi archipelago, a protected nature reserve of granite boulders and small sandy coves. Across the strait the Maddalena archipelago off Sardinia is a national marine park, with Cala Corsara on the island of Spargi framed by rock worn into shapes by erosion and Cala Coticcio on Caprera, which can be reached only by sea.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins sleep nine guests in a queen, two doubles, a twin and a pullman berth in the aft cabin, and for a day aboard she can take twelve. A crew of four – captain, mate, chef and steward – comes with every charter, and the chef writes her menus around what each guest prefers, with July and August the months in which her season peaks.

Charter notes

La Desirade suits two couples or a family of up to nine, and her hire runs by the week. For two couples the owner's suite is the cabin to ask about: its balcony opens directly onto the water, so a swim can begin from the suite itself.
