Saona Sailing Catamaran

A beach tender travels with Saona, so an anchorage is never far from a walk ashore. She is a 47ft (15m) sailing catamaran from Fountaine Pajot, built in 2020, with her home port at Placencia in Belize.

Comfort under way

Her cruising speed is 8 knots and her maximum 12, so she moves between anchorages at sailing pace rather than in a rush, and the day is spent on the water rather than watching the log.

Water toys

A kayak and snorkelling gear come with her, which gives a guest a way to paddle clear of the boat under their own power and a way to see what lies below her.

Where she cruises

She sails year-round out of Placencia and cruises the waters of Belize, January, February and March and then December being her busiest stretch.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep 12 guests overnight, and the same 12 can come aboard for a day on the water, with a crew of 2 running her. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi reach through the boat, so the interior stays cool and the group stays in contact with home.

Charter notes

Saona suits a family, or two couples travelling together, who want a small crewed boat and easy swimming from it. She can also be hired for a full day or a half day, so a group with less time to give still gets out onto the water.
