Sud Superyacht

An e-foil travels with Sud, a gym is fitted aboard her, and seven crew look after the ten guests who sleep on board, so ten people on holiday have seven people working for them. She is a 121ft (37m) Sanlorenzo superyacht, built in 2009 and refitted in 2019, with her exterior drawn by Francesco Paszkowski.

Accommodation and crew

Those ten sleep in five staterooms, three of them doubles and two of them twins, and the master suite is on the main deck with its own bathroom en suite, on the same deck as her main saloon and dining table. By day she may carry twelve, so the ten who sleep aboard can have company for a day on the water.

Comfort under way

Stabilisers work when she is stopped as well as under way, so the roll is taken out of her lying at anchor and moving along the coast alike. She cruises at 12 knots with 14 knots at the top, and uses about 300 litres of fuel an hour.

On deck

Her sun deck has the deck jacuzzi and a sunbathing area forward, a bar and a sitting area, and more sunbathing space aft, so the top of Sud has a place to soak and room to lie out in the open air. A saloon on the top deck gives a sitting room apart from the main deck, where the dining table, the main saloon and a private saloon with a television are, and her gym is fitted with exercise equipment, a way to keep a training routine going for the week. Her swim platform puts the water a step away.

Water toys

Her tender is an 18ft open Zodiac rated for twelve, so a full party can go ashore in the same boat, and the toys on her aft platform include a Wave Runner that seats two, two Seabobs, two inflatable paddleboards for two paddlers at once, an inflatable floating platform to swim from and a towable ring pulled with three riders on it. Fishing gear is carried as well, and helmets and jackets come in a range of sizes.

Where she cruises

Nice, in France, is her home port, and Sud works the coasts of France, Monaco and Italy from there, so three countries' shorelines are open to her from a single base.

Charter notes

Sud suits two couples, or a family with children. Her shortest hire is three days, July and August being the height of her season, and for an event she can take eighty guests aboard, a different scale from the ten who charter her for a week. For a family, the water skis and the snorkelling gear come in children's sizes as well as adults', so the youngest aboard are fitted out for the water like everyone else.
