Calypso I Superyacht

Scuba diving is among the things Calypso I carries for her guests, and a beach club gives them a direct way down to the water, so the sea is something she opens onto rather than something looked at from a rail. Claydon Reeves drew her exterior and Vickers Studio her interior, and Mulder built her in 2019 as a superyacht of 118ft (36m).

Comfort under way

Zero-speed stabilisers damp her roll whether she is under way or lying still, and that steadiness carries over from the passage into the anchorage. A cruising speed of 15 knots, with 25 available when the distance calls for it, gives her the pace to cover ground between stops.

On deck

A deck jacuzzi gives her guests warm water under an open sky, and a swim platform brings the sea to their feet, so a swim starts from the yacht herself rather than from a tender.

Water toys

She carries five water toys. Snorkelling gear and the diving equipment take her guests under the surface, SUP boards and a surfboard keep them on top of it, and a beach tender is for landing ashore and coming back again.

Where she cruises

Calypso I is based on the Turkish Riviera in Turkey, and Turkey is the whole of her cruising ground, so a week aboard keeps to the waters of a single country, with the height of her season falling in July and August.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins sleep ten guests overnight, she can take sixteen aboard by day, and six crew look after whoever is there.

Charter notes

Calypso I suits a family or couples travelling together, and her charter is offered by the week and for shorter stays. For a party who dive she has the fact that matters most: the scuba equipment travels with her, so the diving is part of her hire rather than an excursion arranged elsewhere.
