Wasting Light Motor Yacht

Six guests sleep aboard Wasting Light and four crew look after them, with catering part of the service, so meals are cooked on board rather than sought ashore. She is a Maritimo motor yacht of 70ft (21m), built in 2006 and refitted in 2023.

Water toys

Eleven toys come with her. Two kayaks and two paddleboards let guests leave the boat under their own power, while waterskis, a wakeboard, a kneeboard and a Sea Biscuit cover the faster gear, and fishing and snorkelling equipment are aboard as well. A jetski and an e-foil can be added to hire, and a ZeroJet tender takes people ashore.

Where she cruises

Auckland is her home port, and Wasting Light stays within New Zealand rather than crossing to another region, so the whole of her cruising is New Zealand coast and harbour, available all year, with December, January and February her peak months.

Accommodation and crew

Two cabins hold the six who stay overnight, and by day she carries up to 36, which means a group far larger than the sleeping party can be aboard on the water.

Comfort under way

Stabilisers work both at anchor and under way, so there is less roll when she is moving and less when she is stopped. She cruises at 9 knots with 26 knots available, and a night vision camera gives the helm a view after dark.

On deck

A barbecue station and an outdoor heating feature keep the deck in use once the sun has gone, and the swim platform puts the water a single step below.

Charter notes

She suits a family or a group of friends, and she can be taken for a week, three days, a day or a half day, so a longer stay and a short outing are both on the table; for an event, up to 36 guests can join her.
