Startup Motor Yacht

Startup came out of the Leopard 27 Open line, a performance motor yacht of 88ft (27m) with a GRP hull, built in 1999 and given a contemporary interior in 2021, its saloon lounge of sofas and low tables offering a second place to settle away from the deck.

Comfort under way

Her engines were overhauled in the same refit, and she cruises at 28 knots with 32 knots available, so a far anchorage is as much within reach as a near one.

On deck

The main deck is given over to an open cockpit, with sunpads aft, shaded U-shaped seating on both sides where a group can sit down together, and another large sunpad set into the foredeck; an exterior sound system carries across the outside decks.

Water toys

A 13ft Williams tender handles the runs ashore, and in the water there is a trampoline to swim out to and climb onto, towables for anyone who wants to be pulled along behind, and snorkelling gear for a look under the surface.

Where she cruises

Startup's home port is Port de Sóller on the northern coast of Mallorca, and the Balearics are her charter ground: Spain, and only Spain, with bays and small harbours to move between, July and August her peak months.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins – a queen and three doubles, each with its own shower room – sleep eight guests, and a crew of three under Captain Stephen Quaid looks after them.

Charter notes

She suits a family or a group of friends, and her hire fits a full week as easily as a long weekend; by day she can take twelve, more than sleep aboard, so a larger group can come out on the water together.
