Asmara Motor Yacht

Stabilisers on Asmara do two jobs: when she lies still they hold her level in an anchorage, and when she is running they take the roll out of a passage, so the deck underfoot stays steady whether she is stopped or moving. She is a Ferretti motor yacht of 88ft (27m), delivered in 2023.

On deck

Her flybridge carries a hardtop, a bar and a dining area, so meals outdoors come with shade already built over them, and the bow is laid with sunbeds under an awning that can be rigged when wanted and stowed when not. At the waterline a beach club and a swim platform give the shortest step from deck to sea, and underwater lights around her hull make the water beside her part of the view rather than a dark edge to it.

Water toys

A Williams 395 jet tender rides in her garage and does the runs ashore. Seven toys go with her: a Seadoo jet ski, two Seabobs so two guests can be out on them at once, a Fliteboard e-foil, a paddleboard for paddling, towables for being pulled along at speed, and snorkelling gear for looking beneath the surface.

Where she cruises

Asmara keeps La Spezia in Italy as her home port and cruises Italy, whose coast is what a week aboard her is set against, and her season peaks in July and August.

Accommodation and crew

Four staterooms, all on the lower deck and each with its own bathroom, sleep eight guests as a king, two doubles and a twin, a mix that suits a family as well as it suits friends travelling together. A crew of four – captain, chef, stewardess and deckhand – runs her, which for eight guests is a crew member for every two of them.

Comfort under way

Two MAN V12 diesels give her a cruising speed of 24 knots and 28 knots flat out, so long distances along a coast are covered quickly and the boat keeps her pace without fuss.

Charter notes

Asmara suits a family or a group of friends who want a boat that moves fast and sits still, and she is available for hire by the day as much as by the week. Twelve can be aboard by day against the eight who sleep on her, so the party on board is not limited to those holding a cabin.
