AZ 55 Motor Yacht

Achille Salvagni drew the interior of AZ 55 and Stefano Righini the exterior, and the two were pushed in opposite directions on purpose: lean, sharp lines on the outside, soft shapes and warm surfaces within. She is a 55ft (17m) Azimut motor yacht from 2020.

On deck

A teak table in the cockpit puts meals in the open air, and the bow carries sunbathing cushions under an automatic bimini. The flybridge is laid in teak, with two facing love seats and a coffee table under a hard top, and a refrigerator and barbecue built into the furniture there. Side boarding gates and a swim platform make getting into the water and back aboard simple.

Water toys

An 11ft tender handles trips ashore, and the snorkelling gear aboard turns a swim into a look at what lies under the surface.

Where she cruises

Split is her home port, and she cruises the islands and harbours of Croatia and runs south to Montenegro, which gives a second coastline rather than Croatia alone.

Accommodation and crew

Three cabins sleep six, two of them with double beds and the third a twin, with two bathrooms for guests. A crew of two comes with the hire and has its own air-conditioned cabin. Air conditioning runs through the interior and Wi-Fi reaches the cabins.

Comfort under way

A pair of MAN engines gives AZ 55 a cruising speed of 27 knots and 31 knots flat out, with July and August her busiest months. A manoeuvring joystick and a stern thruster help her come alongside in a tight berth.

Charter notes

She suits a family or a group of friends sharing the boat, and for a day on the water she can take ten guests, against the six who sleep aboard.
