Rua Moana Luxury Catamaran

Computerised ride control and a hull drawn for comfort do the quiet work aboard Rua Moana: her stabilisers hold her steady at rest as well as under way, so there is less roll at anchor and less of it moving. Pachoud launched this 88ft (27m) luxury catamaran in 2020.

Where she cruises

Auckland is her home port and she cruises the coastal waters of New Zealand, with December, January and February her peak months; her hull is shaped to keep her wake small along the New Zealand shore.

Accommodation and crew

Four guest suites, a master and three others, each with its own bathroom, sleep eight. The beds are a king and three queens. A main saloon, a separate media room and a wine lounge give a group room to gather or sit apart. A crew of five runs her, chef included.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 18 knots and tops out at 25, which brings a further anchorage into range.

On deck

A heated spa pool sits on the foredeck, and the flying bridge gives an open view over the water. At the stern the beach platform lowers into the sea, so getting in and out of the water is a step rather than a climb, and two barbecues and an outdoor shower serve the open decks.

Water toys

A 150hp Williams jet tender handles the runs ashore, and ten toys travel with her: a jetski, two Seabobs so two can ride at once, paddleboards, kayaks, water skis, a wakeboard and a kneeboard, with fishing and snorkelling gear aboard.

Charter notes

Rua Moana suits a family or friends filling all four cabins, and by day she takes as many as fifty, or sixty for an event. Alongside a week's charter she can be booked for three days, a day or half a day, so a short hire works as well as a longer stay.
