Soul Mates Sailing Catamaran

Soul Mates keeps a second base at St Thomas as well as her home port at Nassau in the Bahamas, which gives her two harbours to begin from. She is a 54ft (26m) sailing catamaran from Bali Catamarans, built in 2023.

Accommodation and crew

Eight guests sleep aboard Soul Mates. Her five cabins hold a king bed and four queens, and air conditioning keeps them cool for sleeping. A crew of two sail her and look after everyone aboard, her peak falling in December and stretching through to March, so the sailing and the anchoring are theirs to do and not the guests'.

Comfort under way

Under sail she cruises at 8 knots and makes 12 at the most, and because she rides on two hulls she stays level while she does it, so moving about the deck under way is easy on the legs. Wi-Fi aboard keeps the group in touch with home.

On deck

Her swim platform brings the deck down to the level of the sea, so getting in is a step and getting out is a step back.

Water toys

Six toys travel with her. Two kayaks put two paddlers on the water at once and a single paddleboard adds a standing way of covering the same water, a towable tube is for being pulled fast across the surface, and a floating mat is for lying on the sea rather than swimming in it. Fishing gear puts a line over the side, and snorkelling gear gives a look at what lies beneath the hulls.

Where she cruises

Soul Mates operates in the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands, and a charter aboard her can be in either.

Charter notes

Her hire suits a family or a group of friends of up to eight, and for a day on the water she carries twelve, so the party can be larger than the eight who sleep aboard.
