Big Fish Superyacht

Scuba diving travels with Big Fish as part of her own toy inventory, and a refit in 2014 renewed a McMullen & Wing superyacht of 148ft (45m), built in 2010, whose exterior and interior are both the work of Gregory Marshall.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Noumea, and she is the longest yacht in our fleet based in New Caledonia. She cruises New Caledonia and Palau, both Pacific Ocean grounds, and the scuba equipment she carries goes with her to either.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep ten guests, and by day eighteen can be aboard her. Ten crew look after those ten, a crew member for each guest, and her peak months are December, January, February and March. Satellite television and video on demand mean what is watched is chosen from a library rather than taken from whatever is being broadcast.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 10 knots and can make 20, and her stabilisers are rated for zero speed, so their damping of roll does not depend on forward motion: she is held as steady when stopped as when under way.

On deck

The deck jacuzzi puts hot water in the open air, and the gym means a week aboard need not be a week away from exercise.

Water toys

Nine toys travel with her, alongside a beach tender for going ashore. A single Seadoo jet ski is the fast choice, SUP boards and a kayak the paddled kind, a water ski and a wakeboard are for being towed, and a kitesurf and a windsurf rig take their power from the wind. Snorkelling gear covers the surface, and the scuba diving is aboard for those who go below it.

Charter notes

Big Fish suits two couples or a family, above all when some of the party dive. A week with her is looked after by as many crew as there are guests, and the hire of Big Fish brings her diving along with it. With room for eighteen by day, others can join the ten who sleep aboard, and for the divers among them the scuba equipment she carries is what matters most, because wherever she is, the diving is there too.
