Galapagos Horizon Motor Yacht

Refitted in 2024, Galapagos Horizon rides on three hulls: she is a 125ft (38m) motor yacht that Lyman Morse built in 2018 as a trimaran, and that triple hull is what sets how she moves through the water.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Galapagos, in Ecuador, and she works the waters of Ecuador and nowhere else, moving among the islands of an archipelago known as the Enchanted Islands, whose visitor points are what a stay aboard is for; her peak season falls in December, January and February.

Accommodation and crew

Eight staterooms sleep sixteen guests, four of them with king beds and four with twins, and every stateroom has a balcony of its own, a private door from the cabin straight to the open air. Sixteen is also as many as she carries by day. Eleven crew look after them, a cruise director and a chef among them, and the chef's cooking is served either inside or outdoors with the sea behind the table.

Comfort under way

Under way her three hulls keep the ride smooth, and she cruises at 11 knots, which is also all she will do, so a passage is made at a single settled pace rather than hurried.

On deck

An extensive solarium holds the deck jacuzzi, set to look out over the islands from the water, and Galapagos Horizon carries shaded places to sit outdoors for a spell out of the sun. Inside, a lounge with panoramic views keeps the outlook when the party moves in, and there is a bar indoors. The swim platform is her step down into the sea, a deck shower rinses the salt off afterwards, and a barbecue lets the cooking move outside too.

Water toys

Her tender takes the party ashore and out to snorkelling stops, with snorkelling gear, wetsuits and an underwater camera aboard so that what is seen below the surface comes home as pictures. SUP boards and a kayak give a quieter way onto the water under paddle power, and binoculars, walking sticks and expedition gear are packed for the landings.

Charter notes

Galapagos Horizon suits a large family or a group that wants every stateroom in use, and she is available for hire by the week or for as little as three days. A certified bilingual naturalist guide travels with her and leads the visits ashore, so the party sees the archipelago with a guide who can name what it is looking at.
