The latest additions to the fleet
Norway’s brief June to August season and limited fleet of around 15 vessels mean the most sought‐after yachts, especially expedition vessels bound for Svalbard and the Lofoten Islands, commit a full year ahead. Shoulder‐season charters in May or September can sometimes be arranged with four to six months’ notice at softer rates.
The base rate covers the yacht, professional crew, insurance, and standard equipment including the tender, kayaks, and cold‐water snorkelling gear. Fuel, provisions, harbour fees, and excursions are funded through the Advance Provisioning Allowance, typically 30 to 35% of the charter fee, with Norwegian VAT of 25% applied on top. Any unspent APA is refunded at the end of the voyage.
Yes, several yachts reposition between Norway and Iceland, Scotland, or Svalbard during the summer months, making multi‐destination voyages entirely feasible on a two‐to‐three‐week charter. Your Boatcrowd broker can design seamless routing linking the western fjords with the Faroe Islands, the Shetlands, or Iceland’s dramatic Westfjords.
A motor yacht in the 88′-98′ range typically accommodates ten guests in five en‐suite staterooms, with a spacious salon and heated flybridge for the long Nordic evenings. For larger groups or those wanting expedition‐grade capability, vessels above 150′ offer additional cabins, Zodiac tenders for glacier landings, and crew‐to‐guest ratios that elevate every aspect of the experience.
Yacht charter Norway traces a coastline so deeply carved by ice‐age glaciers that a single week barely scratches its 25,000‐kilometre shoreline, from the UNESCO‐listed Geirangerfjord, where thousand‐metre cliff walls funnel waterfalls into emerald‐green water, to the jagged peaks of the Lofoten Islands bathed in the amber glow of the midnight sun. Around 15 charter yachts operate in Norwegian waters: 68′-98′ motor yachts nimble enough to thread the narrow Trollfjord, 100′+ superyachts with heated Jacuzzis and panoramic salons, and 150′+ expedition vessels equipped with ice‐class hulls, Zodiac tenders for glacier landings, and onboard helicopters. Peak season runs mid‐June through August, when daylight stretches to twenty‐three hours and sea temperatures along the southern fjords reach a bracing 14 to 18°C; May and September offer dramatic storm‐light, far fewer vessels, and the first shimmer of the aurora borealis.
Daily rates start from €5,900/day on a modern 68′-78′ motor yacht, rising to €9,900/day on the latest 88′-99′ models, €12,900/day on superyachts, and €19,000/day on expedition vessels, plus 25% Norwegian VAT and a 30 to 35% APA. Norway’s unmatched advantage is vertical drama, no other charter destination places you at the foot of snow‐capped peaks, beneath cascading waterfalls, and beside calving glaciers in a single day’s cruising.
