The Beast Power Catamaran

Scuba diving is on the list of what The Beast carries for her guests, so a group of divers has the gear aboard already. LOMOcean drew her exterior and Oceania Interiors the rooms within; she is a 131ft (40m) power catamaran built by Profab Engineering in 2019, and the only yacht from that builder in the fleet.

Water toys

Eight toys travel with her, and the beach tender is what takes the party ashore. Water skis and a wakeboard are there to be pulled fast across the water, the SUP boards and the kayak to move under your own paddle, and there is fishing gear for anyone who prefers a line over the side. Snorkelling gear rounds out the list for time spent at the surface.

Where she cruises

Her home port is Wellington, in New Zealand, and she works New Zealand's own coast as well as Australia, Fiji and New Caledonia, which puts the waters of four countries within her reach from a single base.

Accommodation and crew

Five cabins sleep twelve guests overnight, and a crew of nine looks after them, which keeps the number of people serving close to the number being served through the week.

Comfort under way

Stabilisers that work while she is stopped as well as under way cut the roll when she lies at anchor, and she cruises at 10 knots with 20 knots available when there is distance to cover, the height of her season falling in December, January and February.

Charter notes

The Beast suits two couples or a family as readily as a group of divers, and a charter of her is taken by the week; by day she carries eighteen, so the family aboard for that week's hire can have others on board for a day without finding them a berth.
