About Arcadia yachts

Arcadia Yachts was founded in 2008 by a group of yachting industry executives with an environmental aim, and builds composite motor yachts near Naples, with a second yard at Marina di Torre Annunziata added in 2018. The first model, the Arcadia 85 of 2010, was styled by Francesco Guida and set solar panels into the topsides to charge the house batteries, an idea the yard has kept ever since.

The A Series carries that thinking through yachts of around twenty-four to thirty-eight metres on semi-planing hulls. Much of the superstructure is double-glazed glass that can be opened, and the overhead glazing carries photovoltaic panels, so daylight reaches the accommodation while the panels cut the time the generators need to run at anchor. After the A85 came the A96, planned as a balance of manoeuvrability, speed and volume, and the A105, first launched in 2018 on the platform of the earlier A100 hull, with a larger aft deck, full-height sliding glass walls and interiors by the Milan studio Hot Lab. Some models offer hybrid diesel and electric power, able to run silently on electric propulsion alone at low speed. The smaller Sherpa series applies the same ideas to boats that give more of their length to deck living.

Questions buyers ask

How does buying a yacht through Boatcrowd work?

You tell us which yacht interests you through the enquiry form on her listing. We confirm she is still available at the price shown, collect the documents the seller holds, and arrange a viewing wherever she is lying. From there the usual sequence is an offer subject to survey and sea trial, a deposit held in a client account, the survey and trial themselves, and then closing and registration. The Boatcrowd team coordinates each step and stays with you through it.

What does the VAT status on a listing mean?

VAT paid means European Union value added tax has been settled on the yacht and she can be used privately in EU waters without a further liability arising from that. VAT unpaid means it has not been settled, which suits a buyer who will keep the yacht outside the EU or import her under an arrangement of their own. The difference is a significant part of the asking price, so it is worth establishing before an offer is made. Where the seller has given us the status, it is printed on the listing.

Why do some listings say Price on Request?

Because the seller has chosen not to publish a figure. It is common at the top of the market and on yachts that have only just come available, and it says nothing about where the price sits in either direction. Send an enquiry from the listing and the Boatcrowd team will come back to you with the number and with what it includes.

Do I need a survey and a sea trial?

On any yacht that has been in the water, yes. A survey establishes the condition of the hull, the machinery and the systems, and a sea trial shows how she actually behaves at operating speed and at anchor. Offers are normally made subject to both, so the findings can be discussed before anything is final. On a yacht in build the equivalent is the yard's own sequence of inspections and the handover trials at the end of it.
