About Scout
Two engines rated at 1,574 hp apiece give Scout a 15.2-knot top speed, but the figure that matters more to a buyer is 6,300 nautical miles: her range at a 10-knot cruise, built for genuine long-distance passages rather than coastal hops. Royal Hakvoort built her in 2019 on an ice-class steel hull, sized for reaching cruising grounds an ordinary motor yacht cannot.
Build and provenance
Royal Hakvoort, the Dutch yard, delivered Scout in 2019 as a custom expedition yacht, with a steel hull built to Lloyd's Register classification. At 64 metres and 1,416 gross tons, with an 11.2-metre beam and a 3.47-metre draft, she is built to carry fuel, stores and crew for weeks at sea rather than a season in one bay.
Layout and accommodation
Sixteen guests are accommodated across seven staterooms, with the Owner's suite alone on its own deck for privacy. Four further guest cabins sit on the main deck and two more on the lower deck, and a crew of sixteen, one for every guest aboard, keeps a yacht built for extended voyages fully staffed. A guest lift runs from the lower deck to the bridge deck, with a second lift continuing on to the sundeck.
Performance and engineering
Two 1,574 hp Caterpillar 3512C engines drive Scout to 15.2 knots at full power, while a 10-knot cruise stretches her range to 6,300 nautical miles, the kind of figure a genuine long-range yacht needs. Stabilisation at anchor and underway keeps her steady both at speed and at rest, and a touch-and-go helicopter deck adds a way to reach her in places a tender cannot.
On deck and at anchor
The sundeck carries a jacuzzi, and belowdecks a wellness area holds a sauna, spa, gym and massage room, built for more than a short stop between ports. An observation lounge looks out over the bow, a library gives a retreat away from the guest decks, and connectivity runs to Starlink, satellite TV and SATCOM, keeping a long passage in touch with shore. A bow thruster and an onboard crane help her handle her own gear far from a marina.
Where she lies and how to see her
Scout lies in Newport, in the United States. Boatcrowd arranges every viewing and is there for it, and once an offer is accepted a survey and sea trial follow before handover completes.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
