Build and provenance
Malia is a custom-built displacement motor yacht on a monohull, drawn to Golden Yachts' own design rather than adapted from a production model, so her volume and layout were set from the keel up. At 78 metres and 2,165 gross tons her scale shows in full-height windows through the accommodation, opening the interior spaces to the sea rather than framing the view in smaller panes.

Twelve guests are accommodated across six cabins, with a crew of 21 living and working separately to keep the guest decks quiet. That scale of crew, more than the guest count itself, is what a 78-metre yacht needs to run galley, deck and service through a full day without the work showing.
Performance and engineering
Two 3,433 hp Caterpillar 3516E engines drive her, with a 16.5-knot cruising speed and an 18-knot top speed: figures suited to a displacement hull moving steadily rather than a sports yacht chasing pace. That combination favours long evenings underway over short, fast hops between anchorages.
On deck and at anchor
The beach club opens her stern to the water, with a swimming platform and an on-deck jacuzzi alongside the sun deck above. Below, a sauna, a spa and a hammam make up a wellness deck, and a lift connects the decks for guests who would rather not take the stairs each time.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
