About Rio
Five guests across eleven cabins is the number that defines RIO's layout, leaving several staterooms spare for family, staff, or simply extra room to breathe. Horizon built her as an FD90 and delivered her in 2022, and she lies in Nassau, Bahamas.
Build and provenance
She is a custom-built FD90, a displacement motor yacht with a monohull finished in glass-reinforced plastic, a construction chosen for durability over outright speed. Cor D. Rover drew her exterior lines, while Horizon's own studio handled the interior, keeping the design under one roof from hull to cabins.
Layout and accommodation
Eleven cabins serve up to five guests, with a crew of four to run the yacht day to day. That ratio means every guest can take a cabin to themselves, and the spare rooms can just as easily hold visiting family, extra crew, or gear for a longer trip. A full-beam owner's suite anchors the layout, with the remaining cabins arranged around it.
Performance and engineering
Two 1,600 hp MTU 16V10 engines give her an eleven-knot cruise and an eighteen-knot top speed, a displacement hull built for range and comfort rather than outright pace. Her shallow 1.83-metre draft opens up anchorages across the Bahamas that need only a few feet of water to enter. A 13,170-litre fuel tank and 1,500 litres of fresh water support extended time away from a marina.
Where she lies and how to see her
RIO lies in Nassau, Bahamas. Boatcrowd sets up and attends every viewing, and once an offer is accepted we arrange the survey and sea trial that come next. She also sails in our charter fleet across the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, so a buyer can book a week aboard and try her before deciding to buy.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
