Van der Valk Explorer 28M Motor Yacht
About Van der Valk Explorer 28M
Two 1650 hp MAN V12 engines, 1213 kW each, set the tone for the Van der Valk Explorer 28M: an oceangoing motor yacht built to cross rather than potter. The yard finished her in 2025 on a round-bilged monohull designed for genuine seakeeping, not just a rounded look.
Build and provenance
Guido de Groot drew the Explorer line, working a round-bilged hull that gives the range its sea manners: a shape chosen for how a yacht handles a swell, not for how it looks at the dock. At 29 metres length and 7.2 metres beam with a 1.8 metre draught, she is built for long ocean passages rather than shallow coastal hopping, with the fuel capacity to match. As a 2025 stock build, she carries no history to account for beyond delivery.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests sleep across five cabins, with a crew of three. On an explorer-style yacht built for passages, that crew ratio matters more than on a coastal cruiser: three people can stand watches and handle systems on a multi-day run in a way a smaller crew cannot.
Performance and engineering
Her two MAN V12 engines, each 1650 hp and 1213 kW, give a 17-knot cruise and 20 knots at full throttle, modest figures next to a planing sports yacht but exactly what a monohull is built to deliver efficiently over distance. The same round bilge that steadies her at speed also keeps her comfortable at anchor, without trading cruising range for a taller top speed.
Where she lies and how to see her
The Van der Valk Explorer 28M is built and sold in the Netherlands. Boatcrowd represents her to buyers and arranges every viewing in person; once an offer is accepted, the survey and sea trial follow before handover.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
