About Project Freedom
An explorer yacht built for distance, not marina afternoons, is what SES Yachts has under construction in Istanbul. Project Freedom is a 44-metre custom design, due for delivery in 2028, drawn by naval architect Francesco Rogantin with exterior and interior styling from Marco Casali's Too Design. For a buyer, that combination of yard and design house is the provenance behind a yacht meant to cross oceans rather than skirt a coastline.
Build and provenance
She is being built in aluminium, to a design from Too Design's Marco Casali and naval architecture by Francesco Rogantin. At 399 gross tons on a 44-metre hull, Project Freedom carries more internal volume than her length alone would suggest, and the aluminium construction keeps that volume light for the speed her engines are built to reach. Delivery is set for 2028, so a buyer taking her on now is commissioning a build already engineered and underway.
Layout and accommodation
Twelve guests are accommodated across eight cabins, with a crew of seven berthed separately to run the yacht at that scale. Her owner's suite is on deck, set apart from the guest cabins below.
Performance and engineering
Two 4,800 hp engines give Project Freedom a 20-knot cruise and a 22-knot top speed, matched to a range beyond 4,000 nautical miles at her economical setting. Fuel tankage of 9,246 gallons and fresh water of 2,113 gallons back that range up, so a passage plan is not limited to how far the next refuelling stop sits. For a buyer, that is a yacht built to reach remote water and stay there.
On deck and at anchor
On deck, a beach club and jacuzzi sit alongside sunpads and a gym, while dive gear and a tender garage keep the water sports side of the design close at hand. It is a deck plan built to launch a chase for reef or open water and then convert the same space back into somewhere to sit still at anchor.
Where she lies and how to see her
Project Freedom is under construction in Istanbul, Turkey, and Boatcrowd is arranging viewings through the build. Once an offer is accepted, survey and sea trial follow in the normal course as she nears delivery, and we stay with the process through to handover.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
