Mini Y

A carbon hull and a carbon superstructure on an 85-foot sailing yacht keep weight low and out of the ends, letting a boat this size stay stiff under a full rig. Build and provenance

Mini Y's hull and superstructure are both carbon fibre. The yard delivered her in 2018, and at 70 gross tons on a 26-metre hull, carbon keeps that tonnage low for her length, weight that on a sailing yacht goes into performance rather than into carrying her own structure.

Layout and accommodation

Four guests sleep in two cabins, with a crew of two to sail and maintain her, hands enough for a short-handed passage without turning Mini Y into a boat run for a crowd. It is a layout built around a small party rather than a full complement of guests.

Performance and engineering

Under sail she is quoted at 10.2 knots. Lower structural weight from her carbon build leaves more of her displacement free for speed rather than for strength she does not need.

Mini Y lies in Gothenburg. We set up viewings on site and are there for them, and after an offer is accepted, a surveyor and a sea trial follow before anything else moves forward.
