Project Mako Shark Motor Yacht
About Project Mako Shark
A draft of 1.8 metres and a steel hull built for open water make for a yacht designed around reaching a remote anchorage, not just admiring one from a marina berth. Project Mako Shark is being built in Turkey by Tufan & Brothers Co, due in 2027.
Build and provenance
Her hull is steel and her superstructure aluminium, a pairing chosen for durability over long passages rather than for speed. Rıza Tansu designed her exterior, working with Tufan & Brothers Co on the naval architecture, and the result reads more like a working explorer than a yacht dressed up to look like one. An optional lithium battery system gives her silent, powered nights at anchor without the engines running.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests sleep across five cabins, with a main-deck master that includes its own study, and a crew of five is enough to run a boat built for real distance rather than a marina-to-marina weekend. Two layout options exist, for owners who want to run her themselves or hand her to a professional crew.
Performance and engineering
Twin Cummins diesels give her a 9-knot cruise and a 13-knot top speed, low numbers that come from a hull drawn for range rather than speed. A steel hull at 200 gross tonnes on a 27-metre platform is built to take open water in her stride, the kind of yacht meant to get an owner somewhere rather than out for the afternoon.
On deck and at anchor
On deck, a swimming platform is the easiest way in and out of the water at anchor, and a crane on board handles tenders and toys without a second boat standing by.
Where she lies and how to see her
Project Mako Shark is currently under construction in Turkey. We arrange viewings during her build and attend them with you, and once an offer is accepted, a survey and sea trial follow before anything is final.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
