In Gdansk, the Sunreef 40 Explorer is currently taking shape for delivery in 2028. At 40 metres and 295 gross tonnes she will carry twelve guests in five cabins, with a crew of seven to run her. Buying her now means buying into a build still under way, not a finished yacht changing hands.
Build and provenance
She is built in composite at that Gdansk yard, and comes with a variable draught, letting her move between deep water and shallower anchorages once delivered. At this stage of construction a buyer is effectively commissioning her: it is the yard's own tolerances, not a resale history, that a survey will confirm at delivery.
Layout and accommodation
Twelve guests sleep across five cabins, and a crew of seven, in their own quarters, run the Sunreef 40 Explorer day to day. An elevator connects her decks, useful on a catamaran where the living space spreads wide rather than stacks high.
Performance and engineering
Her engines have not yet been specified, so power and range remain open at this stage of the build. What is fixed is the platform: a catamaran hull with zero-speed stabilisers to hold her steady at anchor, and a beam of 11.2 metres.
On deck and at anchor
On deck, there is a beach club. Below, the amenities run to a gym, a sauna and steam room, and a therapist's treatment room, with a cinema for evenings in; jet skis and a swimming pool with a deck jacuzzi complete the water toys.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
