About Bombay
A 3,660-nautical-mile range at 12 knots is the number that sets Bombay apart: a fifty-metre yacht built to cross an ocean, not just hop along a coast. Benetti delivered her in 2016 and gave her a comprehensive refit in 2023, and the engineering underneath still reads as long-legged rather than local.
Build and provenance
Bombay is a GRP-hulled Benetti with an aluminium superstructure, from the yard's FB Series. That combination keeps her light enough for efficient range without giving up the steadiness a fifty-metre hull needs at sea. She carries American Bureau of Shipping classification, and a 2023 refit covered her interiors, bringing them to a contemporary finish across the main salon and sky lounge.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests sleep in five staterooms, and the main deck Owner's Stateroom is the standout: a private structural balcony to starboard, its own study, and a full-beam ensuite with separate facilities. Four further guest cabins sit on the lower deck. A crew of eleven keeps the boat running, a ratio that matches her long-range brief: enough hands for a proper ocean passage, not just a weekend out.
Performance and engineering
Two 1,600 hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines give her a 12-knot cruise and a 15.5-knot top speed, tuned for the 3,660-nautical-mile range rather than outright pace. A beam of 9.3 metres and a draft of 2.7 metres keep her seakeeping steady on long runs. Two Caterpillar generators, one at 143 kW and one at 125 kW, and stabilisers that work both at anchor and underway complete the picture of a yacht built for distance.
On deck and at anchor
A beach club and an extended swim platform put the sea within easy reach, and a foredeck lounge with sun pads and a hot tub sits forward on the bridge deck. A tender garage and a crane handle her toys, underwater lights extend the evenings, and an outdoor bar keeps the aft deck social.

Bombay is currently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Boatcrowd handles the viewing from start to finish and is present throughout, and a survey and sea trial follow once an offer is accepted. Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
