Sunreef Yachts is building the Sunreef 50M Explorer in Gdansk for delivery in 2028, and at 499 gross tons across 50 metres she is going up as a long-range platform rather than a marina showpiece. A composite catamaran hull gives her the deck space and stability that a single hull cannot match at this length, and a buyer commissioning her now is ordering a yacht to a specification, not inheriting somebody else's choices.
Build and provenance
She is a Sunreef Yachts catamaran with a composite hull, new construction rather than a refit, due for delivery in 2028. Her beam of 14.3 metres is wide even for a 50-metre yacht, the result of building in two hulls rather than one, and it is what lets the Sunreef 50M Explorer carry a six-cabin layout and full crew quarters without the narrow corridors a monohull her length would have.
Layout and accommodation
Twelve guests are accommodated across six cabins, and a crew of twelve, one for every guest, points to continuous service rather than a lean delivery crew. That ratio also suits an explorer yacht, where enough hands are needed to run tenders, toys and systems for stretches away from a marina.
Performance and engineering
Two hulls give the Sunreef 50M Explorer a stability at sea that a single-hull yacht her size cannot equal, and her specification includes fittings for dive compressors, sea bobs, a sailing dinghy and tenders, the kind of kit a yacht carries when she is meant to cruise far from her base rather than shuttle along one coastline. Built to cruise at around 10 knots, she is set up to cover distance economically rather than to sprint between anchorages.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
