Joubert & Nivelt drew her hull, and Bureau Veritas will class her, two names that signal a serious ocean-going project rather than a styling exercise. Ocea is building the Darnet 38 M Modern Explorer for delivery in 2028, with interiors designed by Franck Darnet. At this stage of her build a buyer is choosing a pedigree as much as a boat, and hers already carries a naval architect, an interior designer and a classification society named before launch.
Build and provenance
She is a monohull explorer yacht of 38 metres, 125 feet on deck, built by Ocea. She is designed for long range ocean passages rather than short coastal hops, a brief that fits her explorer style, and Bureau Veritas classification gives a buyer third party sign off on her structure before she ever leaves the yard.
Layout and accommodation
Eight guests sleep across four staterooms, a cabin count that leaves room for a family layout on a 38 metre yacht. The interior brief calls for a bright, light filled atmosphere, a detail worth noting before the first general arrangement drawings are finalised.
Performance and engineering
Two MAN V12 engines rated at 1,020 hp each give her a 14 knot cruise and a 16 knot top speed, output built for range rather than outright pace. A beam of 7.6 metres and a draft of 1.8 metres keep her shallow enough for anchorages that suit an explorer's remote cruising brief.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
