Build and provenance
Marlow built her as an Explorer-series motor yacht, a fibreglass monohull shaped for distance rather than speed, and in 2024 she went through a round of mechanical care: new exhaust on both engines, new electronics, and a haul-out with a stabiliser and bottom service. None of that changes what Virginia Sea is, an established long-range Marlow, but it does mean a coming survey is looking at recent work rather than eight-year-old systems.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests sleep across four staterooms: a full-beam master with a king bed, a VIP cabin with a king and twin bunks, and two further twin cabins, all finished in teak and ebony satin woodwork. A separate cabin sleeps the four crew who run her, kept apart from the guest decks. Bow and stern thrusters make close-quarters work straightforward for whoever takes the helm.
Performance and engineering
Twin Caterpillar engines rated at 1,900 hp give her a 27-knot top speed and a 23-knot cruise, quick for a yacht built around range rather than sprint. Two 32kW Kohler generators keep the systems running at anchor without shore power, and a listed range beyond 1,500 nautical miles means real distance between fuel stops rather than a hop between marinas. A Yacht Controller system takes the guesswork out of docking her alone.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
