About Joy
A ten-year survey and a full repaint, both just completed, are the two items an incoming owner of Joy will not need to plan for. She was built in 2016 at 70 metres, and this milestone resets much of the maintenance clock the next owner would otherwise inherit.
Build and provenance
Feadship delivered Joy as a custom 70-metre motor yacht in 2016, drawn by Bannenberg & Rowell on the outside and finished inside by Studio Indigo. She has just completed her ten-year Lloyd's survey and a full repaint supervised by Feadship itself, work that resets her certification and her finish together rather than one lagging behind the other.
Layout and accommodation
Twelve guests sleep across 7 cabins, laid out to Studio Indigo's interior scheme, and a winter garden with floor-to-ceiling glass gives the yacht an indoor room that behaves like an outdoor one, useable regardless of the weather at anchor. A dedicated games and sports deck gives guests, especially younger ones, a space of their own rather than sharing the main decks.
Performance and engineering
Her hull is a displacement monohull, built for range rather than speed, and she carries a long-range cruising capability suited to ocean crossings rather than coastal hops alone. A displacement hull is built to cover distance comfortably rather than to sprint, and she was drawn on that platform from the start.
On deck and at anchor
A treatment room and a gym give the yacht proper wellness space rather than a token corner, and the winter garden that doubles as a lounge. Life aboard splits between the games deck for activity and these quieter indoor-outdoor rooms for downtime.
Where she lies and how to see her
Boatcrowd represents Joy to buyers and arranges viewings in person, attending each one with you. Once an offer is accepted, we bring in the surveyor and organise the sea trial that follows, and carry the sale through to handover.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
