About Carat
A load line shorter than her true length is a paperwork detail with a real payoff: lower running and berthing costs, for an owner who still gets the volume of a considerably larger yacht inside. Wally Yachts delivered Carat in 2024, at 27 metres and 200 gross tons, built to the wallywhy200 full-wide-body platform.
Build and provenance
Laurent Giles Superyacht Architects drew the naval architecture, Wally handled the exterior design and Studio Vallicelli Design the interior, on a GRP hull and superstructure. A 7.7-metre beam and a 2-metre draft carry the wide-body concept the model is built around.
Layout and accommodation
Carat's accommodation puts eight guests across four cabins, looked after by a crew of five in their own quarters. The forward owner's suite spans the full beam, with separate bathrooms for each of the owners and glazing that wraps around for wide views of the water. On the lower deck, a VIP suite and two further cabins each have their own bathroom, and a sky lounge upstairs, linked to the accommodation below by a central staircase, gives the boat a second living level.
Performance and engineering
Four Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 pod drives, with Volvo's dynamic positioning system, give her precise control for manoeuvring and holding position; twin 40kW generators supply house power at 60Hz, and a 12,000-litre fuel capacity keeps her running for extended periods without refuelling. Stabilisers keep her steady both under way and at anchor.
On deck and at anchor
A beach club opens at the stern for sea access when she is anchored, the simplest kind of on-the-water living her layout is built around.
Where she lies and how to see her
Carat lies in Italy. A viewing there is arranged through Boatcrowd, and we are on hand for it; an accepted offer is followed by survey and sea trial before anything moves further.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
