About Doge 400

A range of 5,000 nautical miles is the number that defines the Doge 400, and it comes from two 1,450 hp MAN engines set into a full-displacement steel hull with a bow bulb. Ocean King is building her for delivery in 2028.

Build and provenance

She is a steel-hulled monohull with a bow bulb, rather than a production pleasure-boat line, and RINA classes her hull and machinery accordingly. Aluminium forms her superstructure, a lighter material sitting over the steel hull below, and Design aLOT drew her exterior lines. At 8.2 metres of beam and a 2.4-metre draught, she carries her volume without needing deep water to float in.

Layout and accommodation

Ten guests sleep across five staterooms: a full-beam owner’s cabin on the main deck, complete with its own walk-in closet and desk, and four further cabins on the lower deck below. Her crew live and work from their own quarters, separate from the guest decks, keeping service out of sight during a long passage.

Performance and engineering

Two 1,450 hp MAN D2862 engines give her a 10-knot cruise and 15 knots at full speed, driving a hull built for range rather than pace. That range reaches 5,000 nautical miles, enough to cross an ocean rather than hop between marinas, and at 430 gross tonnes on a 40-metre platform she carries the fuel for it without giving up living space. A tender stows aboard for the shore runs at each end of a passage.

Where she lies and how to see her

The Doge 400 is building for delivery out of Fort Lauderdale, in the United States, and Boatcrowd is a buyer’s point of contact there throughout. Viewings are arranged around her build schedule and we attend in person, and after an offer is accepted, a surveyor and sea trial come before handover.
