Buying a yacht still under construction changes what ownership looks like from the outset: no survey to commission on delivery, no previous owner's choices to inherit, only a fixed specification to confirm before she is finished. CL Yachts is building the CLX99 for delivery in 2027, a 100-foot flybridge motor yacht coming out of Zhuhai. At 96 gross tons she is laid out for ten guests in five cabins, built to be handed to her first owner rather than her second.
Build and provenance
The CLX99 is built in GRP, hull and superstructure both, with a teak deck over a monohull flybridge layout. As an in-build yacht her provenance is her build slot rather than a history: everything from the lamination to the systems is new and specified now rather than inherited from an earlier owner.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests are berthed across five cabins, with a crew of five aboard to run her, an even one-to-one ratio between guest cabins and crew that points to a fully staffed experience rather than a lean one.
Performance and engineering
She is specified to cruise at 22 knots, a pace suited to a flybridge motor yacht moving between anchorages rather than covering long open-water legs. Her beam is 24 feet, 7.32 metres, giving the CLX99 the stability a flybridge layout needs at that length.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
