About Phobos
Two engines built for range rather than speed set the tone for Phobos. Aegean Yacht is building the 44-metre motor yacht for delivery in 2028, and everything about her, from her open-air garages to her captain's cabin beside the wheelhouse, is arranged around long stretches at sea rather than short hops along a coast.
Build and provenance
Gian Paolo Nari, the Italian designer, drew Phobos as the explorer version of a pair of sister ships. Aegean Yacht, one of Turkey's most established yards, is building her in Turkey. She measures 44 metres in length, with a beam of 8.2 metres and a draft of 2.8 metres, a hull shaped for distance rather than for showing off in a marina.
Layout and accommodation
Twelve guests sleep across six cabins, with a crew of seven looking after them: three double cabins forward and a captain's cabin set beside the wheelhouse, close to where the work happens. The owner's suite carries its own private terrace, with views to both port and starboard, a layout rarely fitted to a yacht her length. Forward and aft, open-air garages hold the tenders and toys that an explorer needs for extended time away from a marina.
Performance and engineering
Two engines rated at 2,900 hp apiece give her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 14 knots, speeds chosen for endurance over a long passage rather than a fast run to lunch. Generous storage and technical spaces below deck back up that reading: a yacht built to be self-sufficient for weeks rather than days.
On deck and at anchor
Water toys are carried aboard for time spent at anchor, in keeping with a yacht built around extended cruising rather than a fixed base.
Where she lies and how to see her
Phobos is under construction in Turkey. We arrange viewings as her build progresses and attend them with you, and once an offer is accepted, the survey and sea trial follow before handover.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
