About Project Discovery
Project Discovery is not finished yet, and that is the opening she offers a buyer: Delta Marine is building this 48-metre expedition motor yacht for delivery in 2027, with the interior layout, finishes and furnishings still to be chosen.
Build and provenance
She is being constructed to Lloyd's Class standards by Delta Marine, with a hull and superstructure both in GRP and teak decking, a platform chosen to be strong without being heavy. The exterior lines are her builder's own work, and Dasha Moranova Designs is developing the interior. At 48 metres and 499 gross tons, she carries class oversight from the keel up, a build record with third-party verification built in.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests sleep across five cabins, and the sky lounge can convert into an extra cabin, taking the count to six, while nine crew look after them. Three double cabins and one twin complete the accommodation around a full-beam owner's suite with its own seating and natural light. Nine crew against ten guests points to a yacht built to be run, not just occupied.
Performance and engineering
Twin engines give her a cruising speed of 12 knots, generous for a yacht built for distance rather than speed, and stabilisers hold her steady when she is anchored for the night. A dedicated crane and the capacity to tow a heavy tender support longer expeditions, and livewells built into her layout keep her ready for sportfishing and scientific research, systems suited to a boat meant to work away from port.
On deck and at anchor
On deck, a jacuzzi and sun deck sit forward, a beach club and swim platform open at the stern, and an al fresco dining area sits amidships. Below, a gym, spa and sauna give her a wellness deck of her own, and the sky lounge adds a sociable retreat between the outdoor spaces, so every part of the day has somewhere purpose-built to happen.
Where she lies and how to see her
Project Discovery is under construction in the USA, ahead of delivery in 2027. Boatcrowd represents the sale and can arrange a visit to see her build in progress; once an offer on a build slot is accepted, we co-ordinate survey and sea trial ahead of handover.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
