Build and provenance
Ice Explorer 40M is being built to RINA Ice Class 1D standards under Registro Italiano Navale classification, a monohull motor yacht with a steel hull built for demanding waters. Seri Design drew both her exterior and interior, and at 40 metres and 390 gross tonnes she carries more volume than her length alone would suggest.
Layout and accommodation
Ten guests sleep across five cabins, looked after by a crew of seven. The volume that 390 gross tonnes brings to a 40-metre hull leaves scope to configure social areas and guest spaces more generously than her length alone would imply.
Performance and engineering
Two Baudouin engines rated at 1500 hp apiece give her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 14 knots, figures suited to long, steady passages rather than short sprints. Her range runs to 3,000 nautical miles, enough to reach distant cruising grounds without a fuel stop along the way.
Where she lies and how to see her
Cantieri Navali di Termoli is completing her build in Italy, and a yard visit is the way to see her before delivery. Boatcrowd arranges that viewing and is there with you for it; once you accept an offer, we bring in the surveyor and set up the sea trial ahead of handover.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
