Burger Boat is building the 55-metre displacement motor yacht now, at its yard in Manitowoc, as the second hull of the 180 series.
Build and provenance
Project 515 is the second hull of the 180 series, a displacement motor yacht in build at 55 metres, 180 feet on the imperial scale, for delivery in 2029. At 499 gross tonnes on a 10-metre beam and a 2.4-metre draught, she is built for distance rather than for speed, a fact a displacement hull of this size makes plain before she is even launched.
Layout and accommodation
Twelve guests will sleep across six cabins, with fourteen crew aboard, a ratio well above one crew member per guest that points to a fully staffed, formal way of living aboard rather than an owner-run boat.
Performance and engineering
Two 2,366 hp Caterpillar 3512C engines give her an 11-knot cruise and 17 knots at full throttle, figures that belong to a long-range displacement yacht rather than a planing one built for a fast lunch run. That pace is the trade a buyer makes for range and quiet running rather than outright speed.
On deck and at anchor
Fold-down terraces, a sun deck and a skylounge are all part of her design, deck and gathering spaces for long, settled days at anchor once she is delivered.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
