Mangusta Gransport 45

Running a semi-displacement yacht with three engines is a different proposition from running a single-engine cruiser, and owning the Mangusta GranSport 45 means budgeting for that complexity from day one. She is due for delivery in 2029, forty-five metres long with an aluminium hull built for speed rather than distance. Build and provenance

The Mangusta GranSport 45 carries exterior design from Alberto Mancini, whose low bridge-deck roofline gives her an aerodynamic profile Mancini has compared to a sports car's. Mangusta built her with a semi-displacement aluminium hull and a bulb keel, an engineering choice for speed and stability together rather than for range alone. Delivery is due in 2029.

Performance and engineering

Three MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, each rated at 2,600 hp, give her a cruising speed of twenty knots and a top speed of twenty-six, figures that put her among sports yachts rather than long-distance cruisers. The semi-displacement hull carries dynamic lift to hold her trim at speed, so the pace comes without the yacht rising fully onto a plane. At 444 gross tons, owning her means paying for that speed in tonnage as well as in fuel.

On deck and at anchor

A beach club opens at the stern, while the tender garage sits forward in the bow, which keeps the transom free of the marks and smells a stowed tender can leave. An elevator and a hydraulic gangway are also aboard, the kind of fittings that make daily life easier rather than more decorative.
