Chartering before buying is not always possible. Princess built her in 2021, an 85-foot flybridge motor yacht with four cabins for eight guests.

Build and provenance

Record Year is a Princess Y85, a monohull motor yacht with a fibreglass hull and a 6.3-metre beam. She is professionally managed by a full-time captain, with servicing kept current throughout.

Layout and accommodation

Four cabins and five heads sleep eight guests, with three crew aboard to run her. The salon is finished in walnut cabinetry behind wide windows, and a foredeck lounge and an aft cockpit add two further places to sit outside besides the flybridge.

Performance and engineering

Twin 1,900 hp MAN V12 engines give Record Year a 25-knot cruise and 34 knots at full throttle, enough for a quick run between islands rather than a slow one. Zero-speed fin stabilisers hold her still at anchor, hydraulic bow and stern thrusters and a wireless controller make her easy to berth short-handed, and twin Kohler generators, a Starlink Gen 6 connection and a watermaker support extended time aboard away from a marina.

On deck and at anchor

The flybridge is her main deck space, set beneath a hardtop with an opening louvre section, so shade becomes sun at the turn of a switch, a deck built for entertaining above the water.

Record Year lies in Jupiter, USA. We arrange every viewing ourselves and are there for it, and once an offer is accepted we bring in the surveyor and set the sea trial.
