About Samsara
Eight guests sleep in seven cabins aboard Samsara, with a crew of five quartered apart from them, forward and in the engineer's cabin aft, a layout built for long stretches with guests aboard rather than a single weekend. Maxi built her, to naval architect Jon Overing's design, in 2017, and Samsara now lies in Fort Lauderdale.
Build and provenance
Samsara is a full-displacement motor yacht, classed by RINA with an unrestricted 'Any Ocean' notation. Her hull is steel and her superstructure is light aluminium, a round-bottomed, bulbous-bowed form built to move through the water rather than plane across it. At 30 metres and 224 gross tons she carries genuine sea-going volume.
Layout and accommodation
Her seven cabins carry ensuite heads, and interiors by Kirschtein Interior Designs of London run to cherry wood joinery and neutral furnishings throughout. Her crew of five have their own quarters, separate from the guest decks, forward and in the engineer's cabin aft.
Performance and engineering
Two 1,200 hp engines give her a 10-knot cruise and 14 knots flat out, a full-displacement pace built for range rather than speed. Her tanks hold 9,510 gallons of fuel and 3,000 gallons of fresh water, and twin 45 kW generators keep her systems running when she is at anchor. Stabilisers hold her steady while she sits still.
On deck and at anchor
A teak-covered boat deck carries a crane and storage for kayaks, paddleboards and bikes, with the structure already built in for a second crane. A barbecue and sunpads cover the simpler pleasures outdoors, and WiFi with air conditioning keep her comfortable wherever she lies at anchor.
Where she lies and how to see her
Samsara lies in Fort Lauderdale, in the USA. Boatcrowd arranges viewings there and is present at each one, and a survey and sea trial follow once an offer is accepted.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
