A steel hull and an aluminium superstructure are the two decisions that define AES 85 before she is even finished. Due for delivery from Tuzla in 2027, this 26-metre motor yacht is built by AES Yachts as a pocket explorer, sized for long range rather than for the marina. At 255 gross tonnes she carries volume closer to a much longer yacht, and her construction reflects that ambition from the keel up.
Build and provenance
The hull is steel, the superstructure aluminium, a build the source pairs with RINA's Unrestricted Navigation class, a Malta Commercial registry and CE Category A certification: the paperwork of a yacht meant to cross oceans, not just harbours. Hot Lab drew the interiors around AES Yachts' naval engineering, a collaboration that puts function ahead of decoration. For a buyer, that combination reads as an explorer built to a class society's standard rather than a styling exercise.
Layout and accommodation
Eight guests are accommodated across six cabins, with an owner's suite on the main deck offering a private study, a walk-in wardrobe and separate bathrooms for him and her. A crew of five keep pace with that guest count, a ratio that points to attentive service rather than a stretched one.
Performance and engineering
Two 910 hp diesel engines give her a cruising speed of 8 knots and a top speed of 11 knots, modest figures that come with a 6,000 nautical mile range: this is a yacht built to cross an ocean at a steady pace, not to cover a coastline quickly. Zero-speed stabilisers work at anchor and underway alike, and bow and stern thrusters handle the close-quarters work a long hull like hers needs. A crane and dedicated tender and toy storage back up that long-range brief with the means to carry what a remote anchorage asks for.
On deck and at anchor
On deck, a jacuzzi and a dip pool sit above a sun deck built for the still days a long passage is meant to end in, and a hydraulic swim platform lowers to the water at the stern. Air conditioning and sound and vibration reduction carry that same steadiness below.

Buying Costs
- Survey
- A buyer normally commissions a condition survey, and a sea trial, once an offer is accepted and before the sale becomes unconditional. The cost depends on her size and on where she is lifted, and it is the buyer who appoints the surveyor.
- Registration and flag
- She will be registered on a flag of the buyer's choosing, which carries its own fees and its own survey and crew requirements. Where the yacht is owned through a company, the shares rather than the vessel may change hands, which changes what is payable.
- VAT and import
- Whether VAT is due, and where, depends on the yacht's current status, her flag, the buyer's residency and where she is delivered. Where the seller has stated her VAT status, it is shown with the asking price on her page, and it is confirmed in writing before an offer is made.
- Running costs
- Crew, berthing, insurance, class and annual maintenance continue from the day she is yours. A yacht that is also chartered earns against them, and we will set out what her season has actually returned before you commit.
