Nylec Motor Yacht

A 2020 refit set the tone aboard Nylec: bright rooms with plenty of natural light, comfortable seating and a dining area that works for a family as easily as for friends. She is an 85ft (26m) motor yacht from Rodriguez Yachts, launched in 2004.

Water toys

A Seadoo jet ski carries a rider at speed and a 13ft tender covers the runs ashore. Two paddleboards, an inflatable donut built for two and sea scooters from Yamaha and iAqua widen the choice in the water, and eight sets of snorkelling gear mean nobody waits for a mask. A netted sea pool marks out a swimming area alongside, and fishing gear is aboard.

Where she cruises

Sicily is her home port and Naples a second base, which puts different stretches of Italy within reach, and she crosses to Malta as well. Her crew are local, and the coves and quiet anchorages they know are parts of Italy guests would not find alone.

Accommodation and crew

Four cabins sleep eight: a master and a VIP, each with a double bed, and two twin cabins. Three crew look after them, twelve guests can be aboard for a day on the water, and July and August are the centre of her season.

Comfort under way

She cruises at 25 knots with 34 knots in hand, so an anchorage further along the coast stays within easy reach.

On deck

Outside there is space to lie in the sun and a table for eating in the open air, with the interior opening straight onto it. A swim platform makes getting into the water and out again simple.

Charter notes

Nylec suits a family or a group of friends who would rather be looked after than organise the week themselves, and the cooking is part of that: her captain makes Mediterranean dishes from ingredients bought locally, so meals through the hire are cooked fresh aboard.
